FaSolYa is a musical game developed by Beelabs LTD my role on this game during the development phase was purely brainstorming, it was released for windows phone in January, the game needed optimization so the company decided to work on getting the game ready and ensure a smooth performance before releasing it for Android and iOS, my role was to create a generic level generation tool that interacted with a pool of Gameobjects this tool was later adapted to fit the needs of FaSolYa by the Lead Developer on the project and this same tool was used for generating the levels in Qartoos the game which I am leading the development on right now.
Fasolya is a musical rhythmic platforming game that takes our hero “a bean” on a musical epic adventure full of excitement and mystery. The art and music style of each world is based loosely on real cultures from around the globe. Imagine exploring vast deserts and listening to Arabian instruments, or exploring colorful worlds full of pi?atas and Spanish music, a tropical island full of lush fruits and vegetation along with Caribbean inspired music. The goal of the game is to navigate the bean throughout the levels from start to end while collecting musical notes and avoiding obstacles and enemies. There are two types of controls, the first being the traditional on screen buttons scheme to make the character jump or dodge. The second however, is unique as it enables players to play the game Hands Free! Yes! Hands-Free by using their voice to make the bean react. The word FaSolya serves a double meaning. The first being a translation of the word bean in Arabic, and known musically as stemming from “Fa” “Sol” the musical notes names!

My first project with Beelabs Ltd, once I started with them they had the project’s base laid-out by a former developer with no prior experience in development with Unity, my role was to implement various social networking add-ons such as Facebook leader-boards and Google play services for persistent saving and loading of game data throughout play sessions, billing, localizing the game to four different languages, a local achievements system and a mini in game event, also the project lacked optimization so the deadline was pushed and as it came nearer the company shifted towards client servicing and put this project aside, currently under development with me as the Lead Developer, mainly focusing on optimizing the game and making sure it is cross-platform ready, to be released on android and iOS due September 2015.
